English National Tournament

Worthing 10th - 16th July 2011

Three Yeovil bowlers. Nancy Cheeseman, Terry Mathews and Ron Homer  together with helper Dennis Pressley took part in the English Nationals at Worthing.

Results:

B 4 Singles. Winner Terry Mathews.

B 4 Pairs. winner. Terry Mathews & Mike Bourne.

B 2 Pairs. Runner Up Ron Homer & Ivor Rice.

Very well done, particular congratulations to Terry for retaining the B 4 singles trophy he won at Leamington Spa last year.

Just two days after the UK Championships in Gateshead the English National tournament was held at Leamington Spa. On Sunday the pairs were played by Nancy who paired with Paul Hawks, they won all their games. In the B2 Class beating Ron and Ivor Rice in the final.  Terry partnered David Mears, they lost in the final pf the B4 Class.

On Monday it was the singles, Nancy continued winning, she won all her games, and Dennis as usual helped Nancy on the mat.

Eight games to win B2 class single championship for the fourth year running. Terry also had a good run he won all his four games to win the B4 class singles championship for the fifth time. Ron did not let us down he played well but had very stiff opposition and needed help on the mat to give that little bit of help.

Well done to all three bowlers they done well keeping up the name of Yeovil club.

On Tuesday we had just started playing when it started to rain within 15 minutes all five greens were under water. The rain stopped after 30 minutes and to our surprise we were able to play again after an hour.

Nancy was presented with a bottle of Champagne for the bowler winning the most games. Nancy won all of her games both Singles and Pairs. Congratulations.
